Upper Limb Dry Needling Workshop

 

This workshop will be conducted by one of Australia’s leading Dry Needling experts in Senior Physiotherapist, Robert De Nardis, and will focus on theory/safety/needle manipulation skills and then practical demonstration and guidance to needle all major muscles of forearm and hand.  

This will provide delegates with a powerful manual therapy technique to treat complex myofascial syndromes of the upper limb inclusive of but not limited to: CTS, De Quervains, common flexor/extensor elbow problems.

There are online modules required to be completed PRIOIR to the workshop and a (non-intimidating) practical test to ensure adequate transfer of knowledge to all workshop participants.

Hand & Wrist Ultrasound for Hand Therapists Workshop

 

This workshop aims to give hand therapists a good understanding of how hand and wrist ultrasound is performed and basic interpretation of normal and pathological images. Hands-on screening will be included in small groups.

The workshop will be conducted by musculoskeletal physiotherapist, Peter Esselbach. Peter has over 25 years experience in private practice medical sonography, both as a practitioner and as an educator.

Clinical Reasoning in Hand Trauma

Outline: This workshop outlines the process of clinical reasoning, and applies this to a series of case studies about people who have experienced traumatic hand injuries. Clinical reasoning will be used for each case at different time points during rehabilitation to determine appropriate lines of questioning in history taking, select diagnostic tests, and apply interventions including splinting and exercise. This is a lecture style workshop where participants are encouraged to think through the clinical decision-making process with the presenter. This workshop focuses on responding to changing subjective and objective findings, adjusting intervention and continuing to reassess throughout the course of rehabilitation following traumatic hand injury.

The imaging of the upper extremity follows recognised techniques that most clinicians recognise. Outline: Brachial plexus 101 for therapists. Adult, traumatic brachial plexus injuries, while not common, do require a strong understanding of anatomy, clinical examination, current surgical reconstruction procedures, and application of clinically sound rehabilitation.
